February 8: Unfortunatly, Krista tore her ACL and lateral meniscus last month during practice. However, Krista is recovering very quickly. She is able to walk now and will be getting the brace off her leg in about 2 weeks! Krista is very determined to get healthy again and the doctors are impressed by how quickly she is progressing. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Krista!

March 4: Krista competed last night at the John Pancott Invitational and did an excellant job. About a week ago, Krista sprained suffered a high ankle sprain in the gym and did not practice all week but decided to give it a go yesterday and she hit all her routines. She opened the night on beam with a stuck beam routine and went on to floor where she tumbled a 2.5 twist into front layout, triple twist, and a double pike for her high score of the night (9.550). She hit a solid full twisting yurchenko on vault and finished the competition on bars with a nice routine that included a tcatchev release and double back dismount. Krista is hoping to rest of her ankle a little more and will then prepare to compete in the ESGA League Meet in two weeks.
December 18: Krista was unable to practice much because of her leg so she did not compete at the Christmas at the Chesapeake competition. Now she is taking it easy so it can heal properly and she will be ready to compete at the Brestyan's Invitational in January.
December 6: Krista tore her adductor in her right leg last Tuesday so her training has been limited. Feel better soon, Krista! She will be competing at the Christmas at the Chesapeake competition in Baltimore this Saturday night.
December 3: Krista competed in the Wintertime in Brandywine competition at her gym on Friday and finished 1st all-around! Congratulations, Krista! This was Krista's first meet in about 2.5 years. February 15: Krista has gotten alternative physical therapy on her elbow and she is able to do gymnastics again! She is training at AJS Pancott Gymnastics Center in West Chester, PA. Right now, Krista is unable to train uneven bars but she is working to build up her muscle so that hopefully she will be able to compete all four events in the future. Read Krista's journal for more details...
July 31: Here is some more news from Krista: "Hey everyone! I have a lot of news to share with you all. As you know, I am not doing gymnastics this year because of my elbow, so I decided to take up track and cross country. I really like it, but not as much as gymnastics, hehe. Since my mom is a runner, I think I got a lot of her talent in that sport because I am doing very well! My 4x4 team from school got invited to the Penn Relays and we got 3rd overall! We did really good this year! AND THE BEST THING EVER IS THAT I MIGHT BE ABLE TO DO GYMNASTICS AGAIN!!!!!! We went to see my doctor again because he said that I shouldn't still have this problem. I re-told my symptoms and let him know about my arm waking me up every night during gymnastics because it was either throbbing or numb. He did some tests and told me that I might have Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. This is caused by nerve compression in the neck. This would cause blockage of blood to my tricep so the muscle can't work and therefore all the stress goes right into the joint (where I have been having all my pain). So now I have to get all these tests to make sure I have TOS and the only way to fix it is through surgery. I really dont want to get surgery again and the outcome of the surgery is not a 100% gaurenteed success. I have a lot to decide, but first I have to see if I have TOS. I am really upset because it took almost 4 years to finally figure out my elbow problem. I will just be happy if they can fix it and I can go back to gymnastics! Well, that's all the news for now and I will let you know when the tests get back to see if the diagnosis was correct."
July 10: Here is some unfortunate news from Krista: "My elbow is not functioning anymore and the doctor told me that if I didn't stop gymnastics now, I wouldn't have an elbow for the rest of my life so I had to stop. My elbow has gotten so bad and surgery didn't even help my problem. We have tried everything and the doctors just dont seem to know what is wrong with it, so I am going to take off this year completely, do track and diving and try gymnastics next year. I'm hoping that it heals and I can at least do level 10 gymnastics, but the doctors don't know if it will ever heal." Please love some supportive messages for Krista in the guestbook.
May 7: Happy 16th Birthday, Krista! :)
November 26: Krista's arm is healing nicely but she is unable to do gymnastics until January when it is completely healed. That is when she will be making the move to Gaitherburg, MD to attend Hills Gymnastics. Right now, she is currently doing stretching and conditioning to stay in shape. Also, unfortunatly, Krista is recovering from Mono so leave some "get well soon" messages in the guestbook for her!
September 5: Unfortunatly, Krista has a stress fracture in her arm. She is going back to the doctor on September 9 to see what her recovery procedure will be like. Feel better soon, Krista! In other news, Krista is moving to Hills Gymnastics in Gaithersburg, MD.
August 7: Krista returned to competition at the US Classic in May! She had a tough time on bars and beam but had solid routines on vault and floor to earn her 34th place in the all-around. Congratulations on your return to competition, Krista!
